Key Maki updates of 2025

2025 was a year in which Maki made great strides in several areas. From practical improvements in everyday use to major technical and functional enhancements under the hood. In this blog, we list the most important updates of 2025.

Print tickets in full (2025.02)

In early 2025, we introduced a much-requested enhancement: the ability to print tickets in full, including all sections. Where previously only the information of the opened section was printed, users can now generate a complete ticket summary. This makes sharing, archiving and documenting tickets much easier. Printing a ticket is done by opening the ticket and clicking on the printer icon in the upper right corner.

In addition, the February 2025.02 release brought further practical improvements. Task priorities are now displayed with colors in the overview, making urgent tasks easier to recognize. Also, when creating, tickets can be linked directly to a project, providing more overview and a more efficient workflow.

Communication feed into projects and tasks (2025.03)

In March, the focus was on collaboration and communication. With the introduction of the communication feed in the projects and tasks module, it became possible to communicate there as well via a clear, chat-like feed. This functionality, which users were already familiar with from the ticket module, makes it easier to record conversations and updates centrally.

Users can share messages with colleagues and, if desired, with customers. The visibility of the feed is fully adjustable, so it is always clear what remains internal and what is shared. Thanks to filters by date, employee, project and contact person, among others, conversations can also be found quickly. This ensures more transparency and better collaboration within projects and tasks.

Organization-wide MFA (2025.04)

Security received additional attention in April with the introduction of organization-wide Multi-Factor Authentication. Tenant Admins can make MFA mandatory for all employees within the organization since the 2025.04 release. Employees must set up MFA before accessing Maki, actively preventing unauthorized access.

In addition, MFA status is now visible in the contact export file. This gives administrators better insight and control over the security status within the organization. This update is an important step in further strengthening the security of the platform.

Search database upgrade (2025.08)

The August release of 2025 was all about technology and performance. In this release, the Elasticsearch search database was upgraded from version 7.17.22 to 9.1.2, one of the largest technical changes in Maki’s history.

With this modernization, all communication is now asynchronous, allowing operations to be performed simultaneously instead of step by step. This results in a faster and more efficient system, with improved performance and scalability, and provides a solid foundation for future developments.

Multiple minor improvements (2025.09 & 2025.10)

The September and October releases included several smaller improvements that further refine daily use. The September release focused mainly on overview and efficiency. Hyperlinks now open in a new tab by default, and task and project names have been merged into one column for faster access to information.

The October release focused more on reliability and ease of use. Invoices have since been generated via Syncfusion, credit check reports are immediately available as PDFs on the relationship card, and users receive an alert when leaving a page with unsaved changes. These improvements reduce the likelihood of errors and contribute to a more consistent user experience.

Exact Online connection and performance improvements (2025.11)

One of the most impactful additions followed later in the year: the link between Maki and Exact Online. With this integration, organizations can connect their financial records directly to Maki, making invoicing and financial processes seamless. Tenant Admins have full control over activating and configuring the link, including authentication settings, item codes and timekeeping categories. Relationships are automatically synchronized as soon as they reach Account status, with additional options for manual synchronization.

In addition to this functional expansion, the same release also brought significant performance improvements. Thanks to multiple technical optimizations, including the upgrade to .NET 10, Maki responds at least 46 percent faster than before. API times have been reduced from above 1 second to an average of 100-240 milliseconds per call. This makes the platform not only faster, but also more stable and reliable in daily use.

Outlook

The 2025 updates show that Maki continues to evolve, both functionally and technically. In 2026, we continue to build on this, with new enhancements that contribute to ease of use, security and performance.

Let’s save more and achieve more!
