Release 2026.01
Feb. 4, 2026
This release marks a major milestone: after months of hard work, the Exact connection has been fully completed. This makes invoicing faster, more consistent and a lot less manual. In addition, the release includes new features such as template task groups, notifications for contacts, additional Power BI insights and improvements that make daily processes smoother and Maki a little more consistent again.
What’s in the release?
Template tasks grouping
Template tasks can now be organized into groups. This makes building and managing projects more manageable, especially when working with many standard tasks. A new menu option is available to create template task groups, which you can then easily select within a project, ticket or when creating a task. Duplicate template tasks are automatically filtered.
Tickets: mandatory fields no longer block your flow
Switching between sections within tickets has been made smoother, even when mandatory fields have not yet been completed. This prevents you from getting stuck, for example if a tag is missing. Previously, for an existing ticket, you could not move forward until all required fields were filled in; now you can freely navigate through the ticket.

Exact connection: automatic draft invoices and specifications
Maki can now automatically create draft invoices in Exact. Invoice specifications are added immediately when this is set up. This saves a lot of time in the invoicing process and reduces manual work. The setting can be set as default at the organization level and overridden on a per-relationship basis.

Billing in Maki based on billing preferences
Invoices can be created automatically based on billing preferences by relationship. This better matches agreements made and reduces manual choices. The setting can be set as default at the organization level and overridden per relation.
Available options:
- Invoice per ticket and invoice per project
- Everything on 1 invoice
- Tickets and projects on 2 separate invoices
- Invoice per project and all tickets on 1 invoice
Time booked directly on a relation or on a task without a linked project, comes by default on a separate invoice. With “All on 1 Invoice,” this is merged.
Preventing duplicate invoices and duplicate relationships in Exact
Additional controls have been added to prevent duplicate invoices and to prevent duplicate relationships after reactivating the link. This prevents erroneous entries, extra recovery work and it all happens in the background.
Online access to invoice specifications for relations
Relationships can access invoice specifications online. This makes the process more transparent and reduces the pressure on administration through fewer questions and more self-service. For this purpose, a new permission “Authorized to view invoices” has been added, configurable on a contact’s detail page.
Set number of items per page for invoices and invoice lines
In the overviews of invoices and invoice lines, the number of items per page is adjustable. This works more pleasant with large numbers and makes browsing and checking faster.
Invoices and invoice rules: improved front-end and PDF
Display in the application and PDF output has been improved. Everything is presented more consistently, clearly and neatly, making invoices faster to review and share.
Filter by shipping date in invoice view
It is now possible to select a date range to filter on invoices sent within that period. Useful for audits and follow-up calls.
Power BI: time to first action on tickets
In the Power BI data set, “time to first action” has been added for tickets. This allows you to better manage response time and follow-up.
Template task Description: text formatting and AI
The Description field of template tasks now supports text formatting and AI functionality. This joins other places in Maki where formatting and AI are already available.
Notifications for contacts on projects and tasks
Contacts receive notifications at important moments around projects and tasks: add, close and updates in the communication feed. This automatically keeps external stakeholders informed and improves communication between employees and customers. Contacts can manage these notifications themselves on their details page. By default, with this release, all notifications are enabled.
